Welcome to Rathfriland High School

A very warm welcome to the Rathfriland High School website.

Rathfriland High School continues to push forward, developing and adapting to an ever-changing educational climate. Pupil numbers have continued to grow and this provides a certainty and confidence which allows us to deliver a modern and relevant curriculum.

As a non-selective school, academically we continue to make outstanding progress - 2013 saw 97% of our pupils achieving 5 A*- C grades at GCSE and which greatly exceeds the Northern Ireland average. We remain one of the highest achieving secondary schools in this province.

We pride ourselves in providing a wide range of educational experiences, academic, vocational and extra curricular. We are a school that is pro-actively involved in promoting collaboration with other schools and organisations and we offer in excess of 30 subjects to GCSE level or equivalent.  A broad range of extra curricular activities also ensures opportunities to support both physical and intellectual development.

The friendly and caring atmostsphere can be attributed to the high value we place on relationships between pupils, staff and parents. Pupils have a very positive attitude towards school, particularly appreciating their friendships and the support they receive from teachers. We are proud of our child-centred approach, the support given by the Pastoral Care Team and the well-disciplined environment.

Rathfriland High School’s facilities continue to improve and we are delighted to gain a state of the art Music and Media Suite in the Spring of 2012. Our dedicated and energetic teachers truly believe in the school motto ‘Big enough to deliver, small enough to care’.
